Demi Lovato And Nick Jonas Are Still Ultimate BFF Goals After 10 Years
The gang of former Disney kids are fascinating. Anyone who is anyone these days started on Disney — Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Cole Sprouse, Bella Thorne, and Zendaya are just a few. A lot of them stay in touch, but not many are still BFFs. One exception is Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato. They have known each other since Camp Rock, and if you're wondering, "Are Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato friends?" The answer is hell yeah.
That is not to say the two haven't gone through hardships. Back in 2010, Lovato was part of the Jonas Tour. Dealing with addiction and mental illness made this a darker time for Lovato. She and Jonas parted ways after she got in a fight with her dancer. People reported that Jonas was "fuming." Lovato said in an interview with Billboard,
I distanced myself as I was getting involved with self-destructive things. I mean, it was bad ... After treatment, I had to have some time sober before I wasn't embarrassed to talk to him. The first time we saw each other since that tour was my [2012 Los Angeles] concert at the Greek [Theater]. We caught up right before the show, then performed. It was an emotional reunion — I got one of my best friends back.
I'm getting emotional just reading about it. Thankfully these two patched things up, and now they are closer than ever. Below are four reasons Lovato and Jonas will be friends literally forever.
1. They recently went on tour together.
In August 2016, Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas officially kicked off their Future Now Tour. It started in Atlanta and swept through the entire country with millions of fans losing their sh*t almost nightly. The tour looked unreal and like so much fun to be a part of. Future Now came and went with no problems so these two must've had a good time.
2. Their friendship has survived outside relationships.
You know a friendship is rock solid when it survives the other person getting a significant other — especially one you don't like. In July 2016, Lovato and Jonas took a quick break from world tour stuff to sit down with Billboard Magazine. The two talked Twitter drama and relationships — specifically Jonas' past relationship with Olivia Culpo.
Jonas was pretty hurt when the former Miss Universe ended their two-year relationship in June 2015. In true Demi fashion, she didn't hold back her feelings.
I go, 'Honestly, I didn't like her anyway.' It's not because she's mean or anything, but he has such a great sense of humor and I want him to be with someone that makes him laugh.
SAVAGE, but a girl has got to protect her BFF. Lovato did add,
I'm sure she's sitting on diamond records not giving a f*ck what I have to say. That's fine. I don't even give a f*ck what I have to say. That's why I just say it.
Culpo may not be funny, but she has a face of an angel — I think she'll be OK.
3. You can't act like Camp Rock never happened.
Who could forget Camp Rock? NO ONE BECAUSE IT'S THE BEST. The Jonas Brothers with their signature hair swoops and Demi's cute bangs... Ugh, I can't, it's nostalgia overload. The Disney classic came out June 20, 2008 — that was over nine years ago, people! Jonas and Lovato have come a long way from their squeaky-clean Disney days, but it's always fun to remember.
Joe Jonas even spoke to Marie Claire about his idea to do an R-rated Camp Rock 3. He told the magazine in March,
If it made sense, sure. For all of us — Demi, Nick, it would be funny to do a spin on it. Do the graduating days, make it kinda dark. An adult film. Well, not an adult film. An R-rated film. We've joked around about the idea a couple times.
Honestly, I'm down. Need an extra?
4. They show true love on social media.
Jonas and Lovato are not shy about their friendship on social media. Really, if you don't show your love on social media, do you even have love? Totally kidding, but I like the PDFA (public displays of friendly affection). To help celebrate Lovato turning 25 on Aug. 20, Jonas shared this sweet message via Instagram,
Happy birthday @ddlovato we've seen a lot of life together already.. much more to come as well. I admire you so much and am so grateful to have you in my life. Wish I could be with you today to celebrate! I know you won't ever let me live it down that you're a month older than me.
D'aww. So sweet. These two are obviously BFF4L. If Myspace was still a thing, they would totally be in each other's top eight. Note: I understand Myspace is actually still a thing, don't @ me.
Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato give me hope for friendships everywhere. Keep the people who care about you close, and one day you could be as cute as Nick and Demi.
