Last-Minute Punk Eleven Halloween Costumes That Don't Include Eggos
So, you thought you knew Eleven, didn't you? Well, what a difference a year makes. Last year, the Eleven Halloween costume was all the rage and the popularity will only continue on, as Stranger Things Season 2 hit Netflix on Oct. 27. just in time for the spooky holiday. Warning: This post contains spoilers for Stranger Things Season 2. As you probably recall, 2016 was all about Eleven in disguise. There was the blonde wig, the baby-doll dress, and those iconic Eggos. But this season, Eleven is out for revenge and she's got a new look, you guys. Yes, punk Eleven Halloween costumes might just be the next big thing. So get on it, people. No shaved head necessary this time around.
Season 2 finds Eleven and her band of misfit criminals, including Eight, on a mission to right the wrongs of the "bad men" who hurt them. But like any good '80s-referencing pop culture piece, a makeover is in order. The new and improved Eleven visual vibe is essential to harnessing her badass personality. And the great thing is, the whole ensemble is highly achievable. Like, it's scary easy. So if you want to be the talk of your Halloween party by showing up as Eleven — and not the Eleven people would expect — now's your time to shine. You probably have some of the fundamental pieces lying around already. But don't fret if you're at a loss.
If we're being completely honest, Eleven's fresh look is actually super chic. I feel like Kristin Stewart or Diane Kruger would just casually rock it in some effortless, off-duty stroll to grab Coffee Bean. Here's how to get Punk Eleven in all her rebel-with-a-legit-cause glory. Bonus points if you go as the entire gang because, what a sweet and unique group costume that would be. Go for it. Make Stranger Things fans everywhere proud.
For Eleven's ensemble, in addition to some off-the-charts 'tude, all you need is a black blazer, black shirt, and slouchy jeans. You might have a blazer handy or you can borrow a sport coat from a suit. Goodwill or a consignment shop might be your friend in a pinch, but Amazon has a loose and stylish Mango option that you'll likely wear again. Slap on some cuffed boyfriend jeans and a tee and you're ready to roll.
Clothes are important, but as with many costumes, hair and makeup are the ever-important kickers that make or break the whole thing. You will need some serious smokey-eye action for this. If you don't know how to achieve that you can pop over to YouTube for the zillions of tutorials they offer or get some inspiration here and here, but the good thing is that it doesn't have to be totally perfect and neat. You're not necessarily going to achieve Sienna Miller smudgy smokey eye circa 2004 — you're taking things up a notch or two. As for the hair... If you're lucky enough to have an on-trend bob or a short 'do, all you have to do is apply gel. Though, wigs are always there to help. When in doubt, a slicked-back Elvis should do the trick. Just chop off those pesky sideburns if you need to. Next year you can go as the King or you can take the opportunity to channel Miley Cyrus' "Younger Now" get-up. Just sayin.'
How pumped are you that Stranger Things is back in our lives? This Halloween, think outside the Eggo box and be the Eleven that people might not expect. Make a statement. Eleven wouldn't want it any other way.
