This Is What JK Rowling Told Alan Rickman About Playing Severus Snape

by Lydia Mansel

Last week, both the Wizarding World and the Muggle world lost a "magnificent actor and a wonderful man," in the words of JK Rowling herselfAlan Rickman, the man who played Professor Severus Snape in the "Harry Potter" movies, died at the age of 69.

His co-stars, friends and fans around the world came together to display the grief and loss they felt. He might not have been born as Severus Snape, but he embodied the character so well, the name became synonymous with his own.

On January 14, The Independent reported Rowling once told Rickman a "little piece of information, which [he] always said [he] would never share with anybody" about playing the infamous character.

Thanks to social media, however, Rowling recently revealed what that information was.
