Donald Trump says he and Kanye West are basically besties for life. Just a few years ago, however, Kanye was throwing punches at Trump in his lyrics.
In a video captured by C-SPAN, Trump told reporters that meeting was just to discuss "life" because he and Kanye have been "friends for a long time."
"Friends for a long time," huh, Trump?
Well, apparently Trump is not very familiar with Kanye West's early work. Typical fake fan.
Actually, it's a bit of a stretch to call it his "early work" — on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kanye's fifth studio album released in 2010, the rapper directly insults the now President-elect.
The song is "So Appalled," and the lyrics that Kanye raps are,
I'm so appalled Spalding ball, Baldin' Donald Trump, takin' dollars from y'all Baby your fired, your girlfriend hired But if you don't mind I'ma keep you on call
So essentially, Kanye calls Trump out for stealing money from the people, firing workers, hiring their girlfriends (presumably to have sex with them) and going bald.
That doesn't sound like the kind of thing one friend says to another to me.
And let's not forget the year before, in 2009, when Donald Trump called for a boycott of Kanye and called him "disgusting" after the rapper interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the VMAs.
So when exactly did these two begin their epic friendship, exactly?
It's still not exactly clear why Kanye and Trump had this meeting.
We know Kanye is the one who requested the sit-down. E! News reports the two men discussed Kanye becoming an "ambassador of sorts" in an "entrepreneurial leadership role."
And a lot of people, including yours truly, are banking on seeing Kanye perform at Trump inauguration now.
I'm just praying Kanye doesn't debut a new song about how much he loves Trump's toupee.
