Facebook users have live-streamed some horrifying events over the past year, including deadly police brutality and drug overdoses.

Now, Americans are witnessing the country's heroin epidemic up-close with a recent live stream from the daughter of two addicts passed out in their living room.

A video shot by an unnamed companion shows the girl attempting to rouse her parents from their high.

Her father lays sweating on the floor next to a fan, while her mother sits motionless on the couch.

The daughter passes back and forth between her parents, shouting and shining her cell phone's flashlight in their faces to little avail.

Her companion can be heard off-camera, saying,

They're really fucked up, ain't they? ...Man, you cannot be like this around your kids... This shit's not cool. Man, get up... What'd y'all take, man?

The girl kicks her father several times, noting, “He can't even feel it, that's how high he is.”

Disturbing as this video seems, it's not an uncommon reality for many American families. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the rate of heroin-related overdose deaths increased nearly fourfold from 2002 to 2013.

Just last week, another video captured the effects of heroin use when multiple bystanders filmed a couple strung out on the sidewalk midday in Memphis, Tennessee after snorting the drug in a local Wallgreens bathroom.

Another couple, 50-year-old Rhonda Pasek and her boyfriend, James Acord, had their photo famously circulated by Ohio police after the pair passed out behind the wheel of a car carrying Acord's grandson in the backseat.

Though Pasek later tested negative for heroin, she admitted to taking a Percocet-like opiate, DailyMail.com reports, and was charged with child endangerment.

If you or someone you know is struggling with heroin addiction and would like to seek treatment, visit the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration online or call 1-800-662-HELP.
