The Grammys red carpet is a place to make a fashion statement, but sometimes, choices are made that don’t always coincide with your vision. In one such case, The Kid Laroi debuted pink hair on the 2022 Grammys red carpet and immediately regretted it. Pink was a popular color at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards, but while Saweetie stunned in hot pink Valentino, the Kid Laroi wasn’t a big fan of his cotton candy colored locks.

Fans of the first-time Grammy nominee got to see a glimpse of his pink hair on Saturday, April 2, a day before the Grammys. On his Instagram Stories, The Kid Laroi showed off his pink hair in a close-up selfie. However, the “Stay” artist admitted that he wasn’t a fan of the color. The Kid Laroi wrote, “I’m tired of this hair,” as a caption on the selfie, along with sharing that he wanted to dye it back to normal. Perhaps he didn’t have enough time to make the change, though, because the Australian artist showed up to the Grammys red carpet with his hair in the same pastel color.

Along with the vibrant locks, The Kid Laroi wore an all-black suit and a colorful beaded necklace. The pink hair really added a pop of color to his Grammys ensemble, and the shade really was a perfect color for the spring. Some fans even tweeted out their love of the pink hair on social media.

However, The Kid Laroi didn’t seem to agree the night before when he posted to his Instagram Stories a few selfies in the pink hair with a caption that said, “OK now enjoy selfies of the pink before it goes RIP tomorrow.” In a few of The Kid Laroi’s selfies, the artist posed with his girlfriend, Katarina Deme, with whom he showed up the Grammys red carpet.

The Kid Laroi is up for the Best New Artist award this year. His song “Stay” really took off in 2021, especially on TikTok and with the help of Justin Bieber who also sang on the track. As popular as “Stay” and “Without You” were this past year, The Kid Laroi has some stiff competition in his Best New Artist category thanks to Olivia Rodrigo. Rodrigo is not only up for Best New Artist as well, but six other awards this year. That includes two of the biggest awards of the night — Record of the Year and Album of the Year for her debut album, Sour. However, The Kid Laroi has also earned a second Grammy nomination for his work as a featured artist on Bieber’s Justice album, which is nominated for Album of the Year.

If The Kid Laroi does end up winning a Grammy, maybe that means the pink hair was lucky after all. If not, he may be dyeing it back to his normal shade very soon, just like he said he would on his Instagram Story.
