9 Cheesy Instagram Captions For Your Holiday Couple Photos

by Sydnee Lyons

I take Instagram very seriously. I have a schedule, a theme, and an app that tracks engagement. On my phone, I also have a list of captions I’ve stockpiled over the last two to three years that are perfect for any occasion. When I use one of the captions, I remove it from the list — like any normal person would — to avoid repetition. What I’m trying to say is, if you need cheesy Instagram captions for your holiday couple photos, I’m your girl.

My collection of Instagram captions includes mostly snippets of song lyrics, iconic lines from movies and TV shows, quotes from my favorite books, puns (of course), and other quirky one-liners I think of at any moment because #relatable. Sometimes, I will even stage an entire photoshoot — nay, an entire event — just to be able to use the perfect Instagram caption. Don’t believe me? Last Halloween, I convinced my ex-boyfriend to throw a Halloween party just so he and I could go dressed as a firefighter and a Dalmatian just so I could use the caption, ‘Only one of us is wearing a costume,’ just so I could publicly congratulate him for getting into the fire academy. That’s how extra I am on Instagram.

Sure, that was fun and all of our friends got a huge kick out of the caption but Halloween is only the warm-up — pre-season, if you will. Everyone knows that the ultimate Instagram season runs from November through December (unless your theme is ocean blue, then summer is your time to shine). There are Instagram-worthy backdrops everywhere, like this unsuspecting Christmas tree I found at a shopping mall last weekend.

I captioned this glamour shot of my holiday Starbucks cup, "wait, get my basic side," for an extra shot of self-aware humor.

You don’t have to live in a winter wonderland to take advantage of the season’s Insta opportunities either. I paired this tropical shot with a line from Leon Redbone’s 1987 Christmas song, “Christmas Island,” when I spent Christmas at home in Trinidad and Tobago last year. Santa hat included for maximum cheer.

Of course, once you’ve found a winter cuff, you have tons more opportunities for festive snaps as a couple. If you’re looking to brighten up your Instagram feed this holiday season, here a few photo-caption combos you and your partner can try.
