A protest sign about Viagra is going viral on Reddit.

User GallowBoob posted a photo on Wednesday, International Women's Day, quickly gaining upvotes and starting a discussion about the government's prioritization of women's health.

In the photo, a woman holds a protest sign about the government funding of Viagra.

It reads,

Viagra is gov't funded ($41.6 mil/year). If pregnancy is God's will, so is limp dick.

Here it is:

Holy Viagra from pics

Let's get to some of the facts behind this protest sign because there is a lot going on here.

The $41.6 million per year number comes from a CBS report from two years ago, according to Refinery29.

That number was indeed spent by the government on Viagra. In fact, $84.24 million was spent on erectile dysfunction medications overall.

To clarify this information, that money was spent on men in the military, veterans and eligible family members.

If it makes you feel a little better, the military also covers birth control for women in the military.

But that doesn't really make me feel much better, personally.

Because, you see, birth control has more of a medical function. I can imagine a woman stationed on active duty might care a little more about controlling when uterine lining will be expelled from her vagina than a man should care about his dick working as much as he wants it to.

That's not to mention all the good stuff birth control does to improve life, like curbing cramps and, you know, lessening the amount of blood a woman has to deal with every goddamn month -- or, even eliminating it completely (yes, it's safe to skip your period on birth control)!

The rest of the woman's sign refers to arguments about abortion.

Abortion is not funded by federal money. That has been a law since the Hyde Amendment was first passed in 1976.

This week, the House Republicans introduced their plan for an Obamacare replacement. It includes a statute that would make it very difficult to find a private health insurance plan that covers abortions.

Meanwhile, the replacement plan would also defund Planned Parenthood. Again, the government does not pay Planned Parenthood for abortions. It pays Planned Parenthood for things like pap smears, which detect cervical cancer and can save lives.

But because Planned Parenthood also provides a perfectly legal medical procedure sometimes, Paul Ryan decided money should be taken away from pap smears. Men!

If you feel like getting extra angry about all this, just remember that a ton of states still charge taxes for tampons, labeling them as luxury items.

Basically, what this signs reminds us is that men can get hard with insurance and government approval, but women can't do fuck all to our bodies without Paul fucking Ryan charging us a shit ton of money.

So, HAPPY INTERNATIONAL MEN'S DAY FOR THE NEXT 364 DAYS!
