Michelle Obama Reveals She Slept Through Donald Trump's Election Night Victory

Election night created a whirlwind of frustration, agony and utter shock for many Americans.

They gathered anxiously around their TV sets and watched intently as each state on the map turned red or blue... but do you know what Michelle Obama did?

She went to bed.

It's true: Our FLOTUS hit the pillow instead of stressing over the 2016 presidential election, and quite honestly, I don't blame her.

After continuously endorsing Hillary Clinton throughout her demanding campaign, Michelle felt she did all she could do, and the decision was finally in America's hands.

In an joint interview with her hubby for his People cover story this week, Michelle finally admitted what she was doing the night Donald Trump became our president-elect.

She wasn't yelling at the TV (unlike some of us), and she certainly wasn't crying (again, unlike some of us).

Instead, after being asked what election night was like for her, Michelle responded by saying,

I went to bed. I don't watch debates, I don't like to watch the political discourse; I never have.

Adorably, she pointed to President Obama and said "I barely did with him," which sent her husband and those in the room during the interview into giggles.

She continued,

Once you do what you can do, then you rest easy. It was in the hands of the American people. I think anything I felt about the election, I said, and I stand by. This is our democracy, and this is how it works.

OK. I'd give pretty much anything to be as cool, calm and collected as Michelle Obama.

The fact that she was able to get some shuteye on election night is also astonishing. Heck, I was so full of anxiety I didn't hit the hay until the sun came up the next morning.

Next time, I think I'll learn from Michelle and just sleep. And I hope when we leave it up to America again, we'll make a different decision.
