Highspiracy #22: Is Joaquin Phoenix Brilliant Or Just Baked?

by Lauren Martin

Remember when Joaquin Phoenix quit acting to become a rapper? You know, he did a bunch of cocaine and ordered hookers and got booed off multiple stages?

If you’ve seen the documentary “I’m Still Here” his brother-in-law Casey Affleck made during his downward spiral, you will remember they deceptively suggest at the credits that Joaquin was just acting in a piece of art by playing the role of his life.

They suggested that his entire meltdown was nothing more than an elaborate hoax on the public. Many said it was his greatest acting performance, letting life be his stage and never breaking character.

I say bullsh*t. This interview with David Letterman in the middle of his "performance" was not a display of Oscar worthy talent, but a man high off his ass.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the guy and I think that everyone deserves at least one mental breakdown in a lifetime, but let’s not pretend this is some elaborate performance technique.

Anyone who’s ever been under the influence knows that he’s in another world.

But then again, we will never know for certain. This will forever remain a mystery between Joaquin and Hollywood, and we can only speculate.

However, our speculations are leaning more towards baked.
