Nobody freak out, we still don't know the gender of Serena Williams' baby.

Speculation was running high after it looked like her sister, Venus, let it slip during an interview after her second-round win at the French Open this past Wednesday.

Venus told a reporter, "She's going to call me her favorite aunt. We all like 'Baby V, Baby Lyn, Baby Isha...'" She added, "We all want the baby to be named after us."

Cue the hysteria – IS IT A GIRL!?!?

Not wanting anyone to jump to any conclusions, Serena took to Twitter to set the record straight.

So, what's the deal? Well, we really don't know what the gender is yet, and neither does Venus.

Serena wrote,

I think the surprise of knowing what you are going to have on that very special day you give birth is probably the best surprise you can ever have! So to clarify what Venus said, I am always joking with my sisters to see what favors I can get them to do for me next. If I want something from one of my sisters, I say baby Venus, baby Lyn or baby Isha needs it. I did not grow up with any brothers, only sisters and we all say 'she' more than 'he.' Unless I'm joking with my dad or Alexis and I'm trying to con something out of them too. Hey, I'm the youngest of 5 I've always tricked all of them what can I say!

Ohhhh, so THAT explains it.

Earlier in the year, Serena told reporters at the Met Gala, "We're waiting. [It's] a surprise. We call it 'baby.'" And so far, nothing about that is changing.

We will all just have to wait and see until Serena's due date this September, and keep placing our bets.

For my money, I say the baby is going to be just as badass of a female as Serena and Venus, and come out literally swinging (a tennis racket, duh).
