Women have been able to enlist in the army for years now, but it’s not exactly equal. Women were also encouraged to stay out of the battlefield and work more behind the scenes work. Well, not anymore.
Outgoing Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta recently allowed female soldiers to take combat jobs in the Army. This move in modernization can lead to more than 230,000 jobs for women.
Finally! Even though the women’s suffrage movement happened almost a hundred years ago, equality amongst genders has been a slow time coming. Hopefully this will set a precedent for other inequalities to change their ways.
