148,000 Women Are Dyeing Their Hair This Unexpected Color For Fall

by Emily Arata

Something mysterious happens when autumn sets in. In salons across the country, women plop down in front of their colorists and announce in unison, “I think I should go darker for fall."

This, my beloved hair friends, is a lie sold to you by a thousand shampoo commercials. You do not have to become a brunette just because it gets darker earlier in the day and there's a brisk wind blowing.

Nope, you don't have to feel obligated to lose your summer highlights. In fact, I'd even recommend going lighter.

YODYHBO is my motto — you only dye your hair blonde once.

You'll definitely have to dye it more than once, but I digress.

According to Pinterest, plenty of women are hopping on the lighter-for-fall trend. An astonishing 148,000 Pinterest users have saved a color called “white honey,” which falls somewhere between Marilyn Monroe and Julianne Hough.

This particular photo comes from a colorist named Morgan from Seagrass Salon and Spa in North Carolina.

In the way of the internet, the photo only gained popularity months after Morgan actually did the client's hair, which means she has no idea what products she used.

Luckily, Instagram never forgets, and Morgan's original post is still live (albeit, buried pretty far down in her feed).

Morgan used a combination of Redken and L'Anza Healing Haircare to create her white-honey blonde.

It's so beautiful, would-be blondes just keep saving the photo. These days, it's one of the top searches under "blonde" on Pinterest.

To try the color out for yourself, ask for a “bright, beige blonde" fit for cooler months.

Experts say it's easier to start off as a blonde for this one -- sorry, brunettes. They also say the color is best suited for blue or hazel-eyed ladies.

So, basically, you'll need to become Hough herself. No problem.
