We’ve written on a few separate occasions of the unfortunate truth of women needing to work harder than men to get ahead in the business world. This is not always the case, but it is true, especially when women still do not get equal pay for the equal work.
This can be frustrating and discouraging for some women, and I can completely understand why, but it’s essential to keep a few things in mind:
Surround Yourself With Positivity
It’s absolutely imperative to make sure you surround yourself with positivity. Whether you’re starting a new business venture, searching for your dream job or looking to get promoted at work, you need to make sure you surround yourself with people who are positive and who are supporting you. There absolutely will be people who will bring you down, whether it’s intentionally or unintentionally, and the only way to resist that kind of negativity is to have a core group of people who support you and let you know that you can do it, no matter how hard it gets.
Stay Polite
When striving for a position, it is important to be assertive, but make sure you always stay polite. Keep your negative thoughts to yourself and outside of the office. Even on days where you want to curse out your boss and co-workers and flip tables, stay calm, smile, and stay polite. This can only help you. When the time comes for you to be considered for a leg-up, you’ll be in clear and free of any reasons not to award you of what you deserve.
Don’t Forget Your End Goal
Don’t get distracted and make sure you always keep your end goal in focus. Everyone has a goal they make for themselves when entering the business world. Never stop believing that you can achieve it, always keep your goal in sight, and it will absolutely happen for you.
Keeping these thoughts in mind will help on those days when you’re feeling discouraged.
