When imagining the Swiss, stereotypes of a really peaceful, civil society with easy-going, educated citizens come to mind.

After all, it has one of the most progressively liberal taxation schemes and social welfare programs. Not to mention its permanent neutrality is so famous that even Hitler didn't invade Switzerland.

But relationship issues and spousal abuse are human problems, not constrained to any race, culture, age group or social class.

"It takes a village to raise a child," goes the phrase, but that means even peripheral interactions can have a major impact.

Many people will say that it is up to the adults to take themselves out of unhealthy and toxic relationships, but that ignores the collateral damage than can be done and the communal responsibility.
