This Healthy Vegan Eggnog Is The Perfect DIY Drink For Christmas

Nothing says Christmas like eggnog.

Just one sip is enough to put us in the holiday spirit. However, we'd rather save our calories for the sweeter things at the dinner table this year.

In an effort to combat the holiday bloat, we put a twist on the classic drink for all of our dairy-free friends out there.

This vegan eggnog is made with fresh almond milk and sweetened with dates. It's so good, we promise you won't miss the real thing.

Ingredients: - 1 1/2 cups of raw almonds - 8 pitted dates - 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla - pumpkin pie spice - 3 cups of water - dark rum

Step 1. Place almonds in a bowl and cover with water. Soak the almonds overnight in your fridge. Drain and rinse.

(Soaked almonds are on the right.)

Step 2. Add soaked almonds, dates, vanilla, pumpkin pie spice and water to a blender. Blend on high for 2-3 minutes until creamy and smooth.

Add rum to taste. Pulse, then pour the eggnog into glasses.

Top your eggnog with pumpkin pie spice and enjoy!
