Five Last Minute Halloween Costumes

by Ally Batista

I was sick this entire past week, so that means that I forgot about everything else in the world and just focused on being a whiny sick brat. It’s one of my worst qualities, but whatever, I’ll admit it. I’m a sick diva.

Well now, because I’ve forgotten about everything, I've just realized that this weekend is Halloweekend (since Halloween falls in the middle of the week, I can only assume the majority of you will be going out decked out this weekend). Suddenly, I’m at a loss for a costume, so of course, I look to iconic movies as inspiration.

I chose the following classic movie characters as Halloween costume inspirations, because if you’re crunched for time like myself, many of these costumes can be created within your own closets, thanks to current fall trends. You may need to purchase one or two last minute accents, but all in all these costumes are extremely easy to throw together. You’re welcome.

Alex – A Clockwork Orange

A Clockwork Orange just happens to be one of my favorite films of all time. It’s so complex and fascinating that you find your mind wandering to places it’s never been before while watching. I highly recommend it.

The main character, Alex, the leader of the gang in the film, is incredibly easily to portray as a Halloween costume. An all white ensemble, suspenders, combat boots, a bowler hat, and of course, the iconic look of false lashes on just one eye are all you need to pull off this look.

Wednesday Addams – The Addams Family

Luckily, the peter pan collar trend is huge this season, so you may already own something of the sort. Throw on a peter pan collar dress (or blouse with a skirt), black tights, black Lita’s, and braid your hair to portray Wednesday Addams, the precocious daughter of the Addams Family.

Holly Golightly – Breakfast At Tiffany’s

Without a doubt the most iconic character Audrey Hepburn has ever played, Holly Golightly is also one of the easiest characters to replicate. All you need is a LBD, black pumps, pearl necklace, high black gloves, and of course, a miniature tiara to become Holly.

Joel Goodson – Risky Business

I mean come on, is there anything easier than throwing on a loose fitting white button down and black shorts (since I’m sure underwear isn’t acceptable for walking the streets, unless you’re in a college town of course)?

Selina Kyle – The Dark Knight Rises

Of course I had to feature a character from a recent summer blockbuster. Selina Kyle or Catwoman would be an easy costume to pull off, only if you were blessed with Anne Hathaway’s body of course. Leather leggings, a black long sleeve shirt, black over the knee boots, cat ears and a lace eye mask will do the trick.

So which one of these characters will I be for my last minute Halloween costume? I’m keeping it a secret, because it is Halloween time, and I feel the need to be spooky.
