J.Crew’s $1,500 Edie Bag

J.Crew isn’t what I would consider to be a “ cheap” brand. The prices of the majority of their items are moderate, but J.Crew just took a sharp turn into high-end by releasing a $1,500 Alligator Skinned version of their iconic Edie Bag.
If you want to purchase this bag, it is only available at J.Crew’s Madison Avenue Flagship. A python version of the bag, $795, is available at jcrew.com along with the Madison Avenue store and the basic Edie bag is available online as well, starting at $238.
This $1,500 bag is the brand first foray into luxury merchandise. Does this mean that J.Crew will start retailing more luxury items?
