Israel Bans Underweight Models

I never thought I’d see the day that countries would start implementing model restrictions. Israel has put a new law in effect banning models from advertisements that are deemed, by Israel’s standards, too skinny.

Under this law, any model with a BMI under 18.5, which is an indication of malnutrition, according to the World Health Organization, is banned from advertisements and runway shows.

Madrid and Milan have banned models with BMI’s fewer than 18.5 from their fashion weeks before, but the law banning models from advertisements is new.

What do you think of this groundbreaking law? Are you in favor, or opposed?
