A major trend of the holidays is to throw an ugly sweater party. These have been around for years, and it’s always fun to see what people can come up with, and even more fun to wonder where on earth they found some of these articles of clothing.

I for one, have a thing for these “ugly” sweaters. I mean, okay, some of these sweaters are actually hideous, I’ll give you that, but some sweaters have a cozy and wintery vibe to them, and I don’t think it’s so bad to wear them out in public.

Think I’m nuts? That’s fine, I’ll show you a few ways to wear “ugly” sweaters out and about this winter.

Technically, they're called fair isle sweaters, and they should be given a lot more credit. The intricte designs are beautiful and these sweaters are more often than not hand knit. The first way to wear such a sweater is the most simple way, with a pair of solid skinny jeans and flats. The print is bold in it's own so there's really no need to go all out, you'll stand out just fine.

The second option is a bit more daring. Pair a fair isle sweater with a winter skirt. This option features a rich red corduroy skirt. Add some tights and some heeled boots and you're all set with a comfortable, unconventional and weather appropriate outfit.

So what do you think, am I nuts, or would you wear an Ugly Christmas Sweater?
