Why Every Girl Needs A Girl's Night

In the wise words of Carrie Bradshaw:

“Maybe our girlfriends are our soul mates and guys are just people to have fun with.”

It's pretty pathetic when you get into a relationship and can't make time for your friends. Let's evaluate the situation, shall we?

Your friends have been there for you from the beginning, should you have known them long enough. If they're good friends, they've seen you through the good, the bad and the ugly. They’ve nursed you through the breakups, the breakdowns and the heartaches.

They’ve cheered you on during the first dates, the "I love yous" and the marriage proposals. So why, when said friends want to enjoy a night out with just the girls, would you opt out?

I am the first to admit that I love being with my boyfriend because he is easily my favorite person in the world, but I never fail to make time for my friends. I mean, are you so insecure that you can't be apart from your significant other for one night? Come on, Gen-Y. Let's not let our skewed view of the real world get in the way of our friendships, too.

Here are the top 10 reasons every girl needs a girl's night:

Spending time with your female friends is essential for maintaining friendships.

We know you love your boyfriend, but don't forget your foundation. It's healthy to spend some time apart from your guy. Give yourselves a chance to miss each other.

Your boyfriend doesn't always need to be the one who listens to your constant nagging and complaining.

He doesn't need to hear that you have your period and you are bloated and crampy. He doesn't need to hear that your friend talked behind your back and now you're all pissy and annoyed, or that your day was ruined when you spilled Starbucks on your dress and the rain made your hair frizz. Your girlfriend? She’ll listen to you vent as long as you please.

Your boyfriend would rather you go shopping with your girlfriends.

Trust me, he doesn't care that you bought jeans that cost you $170. He doesn't even know that jeans cost that much and he probably thinks you're insane for spending that much money on a pair. All your boyfriend cares about is that those jeans make your ass look good, and luckily, your girlfriend is there to tell you whether or not it does - straight up.

Girls know to be sensitive to one another’s feelings.

As much as your boyfriend is wonderful and supportive, men are from Mars, and women are from Venus. Women just understand each other because we're strung from the same DNA; therefore, we're inclined to just understand. No questions asked and no judgments passed.

You can laugh at stupid sh*t with your friends.

Your girlfriends love to say silly, girly things and laugh about it, not caring how dumb it is. In a sense, you can be yourself around your girls in that easy, effortless and sometimes ridiculous way that's kind of magical.

Your boyfriend definitely doesn't need to hear about the new cleanse you're trying...

...that you want to lose five pounds, or that the skinny bitch at the gym makes you never want to eat again. You can guarantee your girlfriend has contemplated knocking that bitch off her treadmill at least once.

Girl's nights are dedicated to fruity drinks...

...toasting with champagne, little black dresses with your highest heels, laughing until you can't breathe, eating things "you never eat" and sharing dessert. What’s better than that?

Girl’s nights are the time for gossip.

Talk about your job, the yoga class you almost died in, how much you love this new restaurant you tried, how you're kind of a great cook now, what special thing your boyfriend did for you on your anniversary, gush about your new crush, show each other pictures, and talk about SEX!

Reminisce about college, how much you all have changed, and how far you all have come in your lives.

This is the platform for you to talk about all the fun stuff in your future, like when everyone is getting married, how big your engagement ring will be and how many kids you want to have. Your boyfriend of a few months doesn't need to be scared off by this topic of conversation, even though you totally know he is the one.

Lastly, give your guy a boy's night out!

He loves you dearly, but he wants to watch the game and kick back with some beers, his bros and not mind his manners for a little while. Don't worry; he'll still secretly miss you while he's away.

Girl's night is just about taking it all in. So take a million too many pictures, Instagram the hell out of everything, put your hand on your hip, tilt your head back and smile. It's girl's night, baby, and that's what girls do best!
