Aveda’s Attempt To Break A Guinness World Record

by Ally Batista

Anyone can break a Guinness World Record if they put their mind to it, and of course, have the means to do so. At this point, it’s getting pretty difficult to break a World Record, considering some of the most incredible statistics have already been met.

Aveda, you know, the beauty brand, is attempting to do so anyway. If you weren’t aware, it’s Earth Month, and all things earth friendly themed will most likely be taking place throughout this month.

Today is Earth Day. Normally, you forget about Earth Day the second you graduate from elementary school, but Aveda is bringing the day back into the spotlight. Today, the nature-inspired brand hopes to set the Guinness World Record for the most money raised for a charity by haircuts in a 24-hour period, with something called a “global cut-a-thon”.

From Tokyo to Sydney, Moscow to London, New York and Los Angeles, Aveda stylists are volunteering their skilled and practiced hands by offering haircuts in return for a donation to the Aveda Earth Month Campaign.

Their goal is simple: raise $5 million for clean water, in 24 hours. Nbd, right? By all means, if you’re in a location that is hosting one of these events (um, HELLO all of my New York Residents!), head over to an Aveda salon and get a haircut.

Even if it’s just a slight trim, the world needs more clean water, and we can all help accomplish this.
