September Was The First Month In 6 Years With No NFL Players Arrested

by Adam Silvers

At the moment, the sport of football is taking something of a beating in the United States.

This year alone, we witnessed numerous high school football incidents occurring both on and off the field that made us shudder in horror and disbelief.

In addition to that, we also had to stare in the face of the fact children are dying playing the beloved sport.

But yesterday, while all of America geared up for yet another week of the NFL, Mike Rosenberg of Reuters tweeted out a stat that is cause for some celebration.

Rosenberg announced September was the first month since 2009 zero player arrests occurred in the NFL.

He also tweeted the NFL averaged one arrest per week in the time prior to September.

NFL went a month without a player arrest reported after averaging an arrest per *week* over the last 5 years. — Mike Rosenberg (@RosenbergMerc) October 1, 2015

Additionally, according to the Reuters reporter, September was the first in-season calendar month in 15 years without a player arrest.

And September was the first time in 15 years that the NFL went a calendar month *during the season* without a player arrest. — Mike Rosenberg (@RosenbergMerc) October 1, 2015
