I think by now, most of us know being cocky usually results in some bad karma.
Sure, it's one thing to be confident before heading into a bout, but MMA fighter Julian "The Jackal" Julz learned the hard way you shouldn't pop sh*t if you can't back it up.
In the video above, Julz (the one covered in tats) did his best to bait his opponent, Ben "10" Nguyen, during the weigh-in. He got all up in his grill and things got physical.
However, Nguyen didn't give in for a second and waited for the actual fight to take care of business. Like a man.
I think it's important we all knock out a douchebag like this at least once in our lives. It would only make the world a better place.
Ben Nguyen is an inspiration for people everywhere. His self-control, not retaliating in the moment and waiting to settle it fairly, is what discipline in the MMA is all about.
Since the video was released, the fight went viral, and Nguyen even jumped on Reddit to answer some questions for Internet fans everywhere.
Here's what he had to say:
On why he felt some type of way:
I was bullied when I was in middle school which lead me to taking up Tae Kwon Do at a young age. I loved martial arts and competing so MMA was just a natural progression.
On what was going through his mind during the weigh-in:
He talked a lot of trash up until the fight. I just remember thinking, 'Keep cool Ben, save it for tomorrow.' Thank god I did.
On if he's ever been disrespected like that before:
This was the first time I've encountered this type of behavior but I don't pay any attention to it. I've always looked up to Solid Snake from MGS and thought 'wish I could be like him' or 'what would Snake do in this situation.'
On if he came close to punching him during the weigh-in:
Not at all. I knew I had a lot of punching to do the next day.
On if Ronda Rousey could beat guys in her weight class:
Ronda would crush them. She is all finesse, not strength!
