This 15-Year-Old Waking Up From A Heart Transplant Surgery Will Make You Cry
Trevor Sullivan's heartfelt reaction after waking up from heart transplant surgery will give you a healthy dose of the feels this morning.
It's been a rocky two years for the 15-year-old teen who was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a disease affecting the heart muscle's ability to distribute blood to the body.
Trevor's father, Philip, told ABC News Trevor felt sick for about a year before the diagnosis.
We just chalked it up to 'We don't know what's going on.' In September 2014, he was on the football field and said he didn't feel good... we thought it was allergies.
That all changed on February 12, 2015, when the Detroit, Michigan teen needed to be airlifted to nearby C.S. Mott Children's Hospital after sudden heart failure. It was there he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and placed on a heart transplant list.
In November, Trevor received a new heart.
Video of Trevor waking up and realizing he was able to “breathe again” went viral, getting shared online and through various TV stations.

Thankfully, Trevor is doing well since his surgery, according to a note Philip shared on the TEAM TREVOR Facebook page where he also thanked those who shared Trevor's story.
As you have seen, we are only one of many, many families that have had to go through this traumatic life experience, either on the recipient or on the donor side. In the mean time, Trevor is doing very well. We still have to check his glucose levels and give insulin with every meal along with giving him a long acting dose of insulin at night time. Has his school tutor coming over on the weekends and he is keeping up with his work. Rest of the kids are doing good as well!! Thank you to all of you who have shared your stories and those that have shared ours..
