Single Woman's Epic Save-The-Date Photos Are Going Viral For The Best Reason

We all get to that point in our lives when our fridge door is covered in wedding save the dates.

It seems like everyone you know — even Kurt from high school?! He was so smelly! — is getting married, and the only lesson you can get from that is that you're going to die alone with Netflix asking you if you're still watching.

But that's not what Med School Megan is thinking. Med School Megan knows that even if she doesn't get married, she won't die alone.

She'll have her medical degree at her side.

To celebrate this, Med School Megan sent out these incredible save the dates, complete with a photo shoot with her degree.

The invite says,

Megan will go from Ms. to Dr. as she is united in love with her Medical degree.

Med School Megan poses with her degree in nature in her photos like all happy couples do.

Aside from being hilarious, it's a pretty fabulous stance to take. Our culture values marriage as a life peak but tends to downplay seriously major accomplishments like becoming a doctor. This is especially true for women.

Or, as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie says, as used in Beyoncé's "Flawless,"

Because I am female, I am expected to aspire to marriage. I am expected to make my life choices always keeping in mind that marriage is the most important.

But, as Rebecca Traister wrote in her book "All The Single Ladies" (title from the Beyoncé song "Single Ladies"), single women now outnumber married women.

The part that sucks about that is that we do not have celebrations for single women in the same way we do for marriages (and pregnancies). Aside from the party part, weddings (and baby showers) provide women with items that will help them set up a life, like toasters and salad bowls. But where's that help for single people? We need to set up our lives, too, fam.

This is why Med School Megan is the hero we need. She is the champion of the Internet, feminism and our hearts.

We love you, Med School Megan.
