After her three-year relationship ended, Lucy Brown was finally ready to date again, but following her most recent first date, things didn't turn out as she hoped.

The 38-year-old met a seemingly "nice and normal" guy on Plenty of Fish and scheduled a date with him at a pub in Clapham, England, according to Metro.co.uk.

She said, "I thought he seemed really nice and normal, with a good profession as I'm a career girl and he seemed quite sensible."

After the date, however, Lucy just wasn't into the idea of taking things further. So, like any nice, normal person does when they're not into someone, Lucy turned him down for a second date.

That's when things took a turn for the super weird.

In response to Lucy saying she's not down for date number two, Lucy's date asked her to pay him £42.50, AKA her share of the £85 date he'd "saved up some money" for.

Yes, that's his actual bank account number and sort code at the bottom of the text message — this dude is not messing around.

Apparently, Lucy also accidentally left with her date's watch, which he also requested Lucy repay him for, as it would be "too painful" to receive the actual watch back.

Lucy explained, "I only ended up with his watch because we were both messing around and he was wearing my hat, so in return he gave me it to wear. When we both went to say goodbye we both forgot I still had his watch on."

Thankfully, Lucy doesn't seem hurt and finds the whole situation pretty hilarious.

She added, "When I got the text, I was crying with laughter – I honestly thought he was joking. But then I realised he was serious."

Not only did Lucy end up paying her date back, but she also matched her payment with an equal donation to The Donkey Sanctuary, a charity she loves.

I know what you're all wondering here: WTF DID HE RESPOND TO THAT?

According to Lucy, "he has since messaged back and he put 'I feel like the donkey sanctuary has come out better from this situation,'" to which Lucy responded, "eeyore."

Ah, modern romance.
