This Guy's Fitbit Shows What A Breakup Can Physically Do To Your Heart

by Anna Menta

Here's an exercise to add to your workout routine: getting dumped.

Koby Soto, a 28-year-old man living in Tel Aviv, Israel, went through a breakup with his boyfriend recently, and his heart suffered both the literal and figurative consequences.

After getting ~the talk~ from his boyfriend, Koby later checked his Fitbit and noticed a significant increase in his heart rate around the time of the breakup.

Like any of us would, he shared his finding with the Internet.

Koby's heart rate jumped from about 65 beats per minute to over 88 beats per minute for much of the rest of the day.

There is now some cold, hard proof breakups, or any sort of emotionally stressful situation, may literally make your heart ache. According to Koby, his Fitbit actually thought he was in a workout session.

So, while it's probably a lot more fun to keep up with the Kardashians on the elliptical, heartbreak apparently can burn fat. Use that as the sad, silver lining the next time you end a relationship.
