If you haven't heard by now, let me be the first to deliver you the grand news: Prince Harry is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Meghan Markle and boy, oh boy, are people excited about it. Naturally, every member of The Royal Family is thrilled for Harry and Meghan, but, if I'm being honest, I don't think anyone is as excited about the couple's engagement as their American fans. That's right, in addition to be being gorgeous and smart, Harry's new fiancé is biracial and American, and tweets about Meghan Markle being American prove U.S. fans are through the roof with excitement.

If you think about it, it's really no surprise that Americans are excited about this union; I mean, this means we're kinda rich and royal by association now... right? Looks like the American dream is alive and well, folks.

That being said, tons of people have taken to Twitter to congratulate the couple and to express their excitement. Some are thrilled to have a woman of color in the Royal Family, some are excited Meghan is American, and others are just genuinely happy for the Prince and his fiancé as they get ready to walk down the aisle. One way or the other, it's a time to celebrate.

Though Harry and Meghan have been engaged for several weeks now, their engagement was only officially announced on the morning of November 27 via a press release from Charles, Prince of Wales that reads,

His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Megan Markle.
The Wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.
His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle's parents.
The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.

Of course, in addition to all of our praise on this side of the pond, Harry and Meghan have been receiving heartwarming messages from members of the Royal Family and the British Prime Minister all morning following their announcement.

Indeed, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, sent out a tweet saying, "We're thrilled. We're both thrilled. We hope they'll be very happy indeed," and The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh have said they are "delighted for the couple and wish them every happiness"; meanwhile, Prime Minister Theresa May said,

This is a time of huge celebration and excitement for two people in love and, on behalf of myself, the government and the country, I wish them great happiness for the future.

Harry's brother Prince William and his wife, Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge, released a statement of their own, as well, in which they say they are “very excited for Harry and Meghan," and that “It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and see how happy she and Harry are together."

Clearly I'm not the only one ready for more details on the impending royal wedding.

Even Meghan's parents released a statement where they say,

Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person. To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as parents. We wish them a lifetime of happiness and are very excited for their future together.

Right now, all we know about the Harry and Meghan's wedding is that it will take place in spring 2018 and that I will be having the steak; if Meghan's ring is any indication, though, then I'm sure this event will be as fabulous as we all expect.
