McDonald's Is Testing An All-Day Breakfast Menu On 4/20 Because, 4/20

by Sean Levinson

McDonald's announced in March that it would finally be making its breakfast menu available for the entire day.

But before making the change final, a test must be performed to gauge the public's reaction, and the chain couldn't have picked a better time and place.

According to Huffington Post, the first opportunity to have a Sausage McMuffin at 3 pm comes today on 4/20, when traditional festivities result in a munchies epidemic.

The 94 participating restaurants are all in San Diego, NBC San Diego reports, which is home to arguably some of the best weed in the world.

McDonald's breakfast was previously only available until 10:30 am due to the grill and toaster space needed for their signature items like burgers and chicken nuggets.

It isn't clear what changes allowed for the extension, but it's worth noting this all-day breakfast menu currently consists of only nine items.

In addition to McCafé drinks, customers can score an Egg McMuffin, Sausage McMuffin with Egg, Sausage Burrito, Sausage McMuffin, Hash Browns, Pancakes, Fruit & Maple Oatmeal and Fruit 'N Yogurt Parfait until the restaurant closes.

McGriddles and the Steak, Egg & Cheese Bagel, in addition to other items, can still only be purchased until 10:30 am.

It isn't clear how long the breakfast test will run in this location, but NBC San Diego suggests it may depend on the success of this first day.

The move is largely attributed to a slump in breakfast sales, thanks to Taco Bell's competing menu.
