High Schooler Brings Her 80-Year-Old Grandfather To His First Prom

by Gillian Fuller

Prom, for many, is a teenage milestone -- but James Drain never had a chance to go.

That is, until now. His granddaughter, Joy Webb, is bringing the 80-year-old to her prom at Albertville High School in Albertville, Alabama.

Says Webb,

My family is everything to me, and I love him so much, and its just really special to me because I know not many people get to do that. And I know he loves me, and I love him, and its just really, really neat and special.

Not only will it be Drain's first time at prom, but it'll also be his first time ever in a tuxedo.

It'll be both Drain (aka Poppa) and Webb's first prom -- and undoubtedly, a night to remember.

Joy Webb knew she wanted to bring her Poppa to prom.

At 80 years old, he'd never been.

But his granddaughter gave him a chance to go.

She asked, "Will you come to the prom with me and be my beau?"

Her grandfather happily agreed.

Not only is it Poppa's first prom...

...and Joy's first prom...

...but it's also Poppa's first time in a tuxedo.

Happy prom, Poppa!
