It’s about this time of year when those of us who are concerned with being physically fit start kicking our asses into gear. Summer is just around the corner, and every extra effort is worth it when we think of our potential summer bodies.
You can go to the gym all you want, but if you’re not eating right, your efforts will completely go unnoticed. Cut out the bad and make sure you’re never eating these five foods:
The problem with artificial sweeterners is that they’re actually a lot sweeter than sugar, which causes your taste buds to rest and crave more sugary foods. As a result, people end up eating more junk food. In addition to that, people who limit their articifical sweetener use find that they have more energy, and don’t have as many cravings.
Margarine is, in fact, not a healthy alternative to butter. Margarine has a ton of trans fats, which actually increase your cholesterol.
Soy Protein Isolate
Soy protein isolate is a refined, and genetically modified form of soy that is prevalent in a lot of soy-based products. Soy isolate slightly resembles estrogen to your body, and some research has shown that it can increase the risk of cancers and infertility in women.
Diet or Low Fat labeled foods do not mean low-calorie. Foods labeled as “diet” typically have more sugar, salt and unhealthy fillers to make them taste better. The mislabeling also causes us to eat more of that product, because we believe that it’s “healthy”
Even if they’re those “healthier” frozen meal options, all frozen meals are heavily processed, and filled with fat and salt. Stick to frozen fruits and vegetables, as long as there is no additional salt or sauces added.
