This Young Couple's Emotional Wedding Photo Will Warm Your Heart

by Emily Arata

In the midst of wedding season, it's easy to focus on bouquets of fresh orchids or thick paper invitations instead of the real commitment of marriage.

A snapshot of a young North Carolina couple praying before their wedding is a much-needed reminder of the incredible bond between spouses.

TODAY.com reports photographer Dwayne Schmidt caused a viral sensation Saturday by sharing a photo from the wedding of 21-year-old, US Marine Corps Corporal Caleb Earwood and his 22-year-old bride, Maggie.

Shortly before their ceremony began, the pair decided to say a prayer together.

Because it's often considered bad luck for the groom to see his bride's wedding dress, the attendants led the pair to opposite sides of a corner.

As they broke down in tears and grasped hands, the couple prayed together in a photo, which has more than 46,000 likes on Schmidt's Facebook page.

Caleb, who is stationed at Camp Lejeune, told TODAY.com, "We were about to take our first steps in life together, and we didn't want to take a step without it being in God's will..."

"...I prayed to God for my beautiful and intelligent wife that he blessed me with and the amazing family I was marrying into."

The newlyweds, who'd been dating for two years, plan to start their life together in Jacksonville.
