Nothing is worse than staring into the darkness of your bedroom, thinking about your schedule for the next day and feeling like you'll never fall asleep.

In a recent episode of the YouTube series "In59seconds," psychologist Richard Wiseman recommends an attempt to stay awake as the best way to doze off quickly.

Referencing a 2003 study, Wiseman explains the counterintuitive solution to sleep-deprivation, which sounds quite a bit like a trick your mom would've tried to keep you in bed as a child.
