A British police officer was mistaken for a stripper when he walked in on a private birthday party.

According to the BBC, Mike Ober, a police community support officer, came upon an open door as he patrolled a street on foot in Wiltshire, England on Saturday.

The door belonged to a social club, but the building is reportedly closed during most weekends, and the parking lot was empty.

Ober went inside to find a group of women who were under the impression the male stripper they ordered for someone's 50th birthday party finally arrived.

The PSCO, who is in his mid-20s, reportedly said,

The party was about to get started and they thought I was early. But as I went in there were loud cheers and someone shouted: 'Oh, are you the stripogram?'

It appears Ober, however, did not inform the women of their mistake.

Still thinking they were speaking to a stripper, the women asked Ober to come back later, and he just walked away.

The real stripper entered the building as Ober made his exit.

Ober said,

It's a matter of personal taste, but the uniforms aren't very flattering, so I guess [the mix-up] is flattering.
