A new study out of Queen Mary University of London and Imperial College London says hip-hop is the only genre of music to have made a drastic impact on the "musical landscape."
The lead author on the report, Matthias Mauch, says,
The research, which used data analysis of chart trends, also suggests The Beatles and The Rolling Stones did not create a new sound. Instead, the two English bands improved on already-existing musical formulas.
While the British Invasion back in the 1960s is widely credited to the shift in music, it turns out it didn't change sh*t!
