Is there anything more satisfying, alluring or mouth-watering than bacon? A sizzling pan of bacon brightens the cloudiest of mornings; it's the golden ticket to a perfect day. Everything good starts (and, realistically, ends) with bacon.

It’s something you’re always in the mood for, regardless of the time of day or your hunger status.

Where there is bacon, there is endless possibility. It can go on almost anything, and it puts even the most sullen of people in a better mood.

Bacon is typically one of life’s guilty pleasures, a food we indulge in rather than add to our normal, daily diet.

Shockingly, what you may not know is that bacon is actually healthy. Don't believe me? Science agrees! It’s full of protein and vitamins, and it’s delightfully lacking in carbohydrates.

While it’s typically seen as an extravagance; it's really an indispensable component in maintaining a vital existence -- and in more than just your hopeful mind.

Rejoice, fellow bacon aficionados!

Here are 14 reasons why bacon is actually really f*cking good for you:

1. Bacon is the only food that's salty and sweet at the same time.

And yet, savory too! Bacon is salty, sweet goodness that has two flavors rationally at odds with each other and, yet, live in perfect, synchronized harmony. It’s a food that can bring polar opposites together.

 2. It has no carbs.

As we all know, Satan himself invented carbs. Despite what you may think, it’s not fats that are making you gain weight, it is goddamn carbohydrates. And science has shown that low-carb diets help you lose weight.

Many people think we need carbs to have energy. Not true. In early human days, we used fat to create energy, not carbs.

It’s a much more effective way to sustain energy levels. Stay away from carbs! Eat more bacon!

3. It’s the ultimate weapon to fight your hangover.

Nothing can cure a hangover like some greasy bacon and a cup of coffee. This is a universal truth.

When you wake up after a night of heavy drinking, you only really want two things: bacon or a cheeseburger. Wait. A bacon cheeseburger! Yasss, Queen!

4. It curbs hunger.

Bacon is high in saturated fats, which means that it will keep you fuller, longer than foods full of carbohydrates.

So, if you’re the hungriest of hungry hippos, have some bacon, and you’ll make it from breakfast to lunch (or lunch to dinner) without feeling hungry.

What could be better than a food that not only satisfies the hell out of you, but also does so for most of the day?! Sign me up, please!

5. Sometimes life is better a little crunchy.

The fact is that life isn’t always smooth sailing. The wondrous heaven that is bacon is tangible evidence that this is not only a fact, but actually preferable.

It adds a little music to the world. It shows us that which makes life worth living are the speed bumps, the lessons and the experiences. Without a little crunch, where’s the excitement?

6. It’s the most comforting and familiar smell to wake up to in the morning.

Especially if it comes with a shirtless guy. Phew. Perhaps only in your dreams.

No matter what kind of night you had, no matter what gruesome tasks await you in the coming day, waking up to the delicious scent of bacon is sure to put you in the right mood.

Nothing is so comforting or scrumptious. Knowing that bacon is waiting for you in the kitchen will be reason enough to pull your tired self out from under the comforter.

7. It’s full of vitamins.

As Bacon Today points out, bacon is chock-full of essential B vitamins that are vital for our immune systems and general health.

It contains, “65 percent of our recommended daily intake of Thiamin (Vitamin B1) as well as 47 percent of our Niacin (Vitamin B3), 38 percent of our Vitamin B12 and 36 percent of our Zinc.”

So, forget your multivitamins today, and instead, start up the frying pan because it is bacon time up in here.

8. Because you shouldn’t be afraid to get greasy sometimes.

Not everything that gets a little greasy is necessarily for the worse. It’s a good thing to get your hands dirty every once in a while, especially if it’s for something as sensuous as bacon.

As with most of life’s hiccups, a little soap and water will make you as good as new.

9. It’s Paleo!

The Paleo diet might be the latest fad diet, but it actually isn’t new. Though it is en vogue, it’s based on the diet of early humans, before harvested and processed foods entered our daily regimen.

It’s hunter-gatherer, meaning it's comprised of veggies, fruits and meats. If early humans could eat meat, they would probably eat bacon. Duh.

10. It’s easy to make!

Bacon is every lazy person’s dream come true; it’s easy to make while still being yummy and good for you.

You can even make it in the microwave! For someone who can barely turn a stove on, let alone cook on one, I am all about the bacon life.

11. You can put it on anything, and it can be involved in any meal of the day.

Bacon for breakfast? Of course. Bacon for lunch? Yes, please. Bacon for dinner? Why not?! Bacon always sounds good, no matter the time of day.

It might be the only breakfast food that doesn’t become a novelty when introduced into other meals. It goes with eggs, cheeseburgers and even steak. Where there is bacon, there is truth.

12. Even when it’s bad, it’s good.

"Even the worst bacon is better than no bacon." – A Philosopher (Me)

The thing that makes bacon really special is you just can’t do it wrong. Yes, sometimes it’s weirdly chewy or perhaps a bit too crispy, but regardless, you’re going to eat it. No matter what, bad bacon will always be better than good broccoli.

13. There's a type of bacon for everyone.

There is always a way to have bacon, despite some of the apparent boundaries. What if you don’t like pork? What if you’re kosher, and your adversity to bacon comes from your religion?

You can have turkey bacon! You can get bacon from almost every animal. It’s a universal language. There is even such thing as duck bacon! It’s really one of the most diverse foods when you put it to the test.

14. It’s high in protein.

Protein is a key component in a healthy diet, and luckily for you, bacon is super high in protein! Protein is the key ingredient for maintaining high energy levels and having strong hair, nails and skin.

According to Bacon Today:

The protein found in bacon is extremely valuable to maintaining our energy levels and a fully functioning, healthy body.

So, next time you’re feeling guilty about indulging, remind yourself you’re actually doing good for your body by adding in some good old bacon. That, and you should never regret eating bacon. Like, ever.
