The Best Instagram Filter To Use According To Your Zodiac Sign

My friends, it isn't just your love life that's written in the stars. It's your Instagram filter of choice, too. HEAR ME OUT.

What, did you actually think choosing Instagram filters was, like, a one-size-fits-all kind of deal? You were soooo wrong. The way we filter our Instagrams says EVERYTHING about who we are. I f*cking hate Lo-Fi, but I have friends who won't touch anything else.

Let me enlighten you on which filter you should use according to when you were born.

Aquarius (January 20–February 18)

People born under Aquarius are loyal, honest and natural-born humanitarians. They thrive when they are around others, but they are also unpredictable and independent.

Because these guys are so honest and unemotional, I would choose #NoFilter for them. They aren't trying to hide anything. Props to them.

Pisces (February 19–March 20)

Pisces is one of the most open-minded star signs. People born under this sign are very trusting in their relationships and their professional lives.

Pisces adapts easily, and I think it's one of the few star signs that would be able to handle X-Pro II. This filter darkens the corners of the photo and brings out highlights in the little details, like jewels on an outfit or imperfections in someone's skin. Pisces would do well putting it all out there.

Aries (March 21–April 19)

People born under Aries are innate leaders because they're so goal-oriented. That being said, they get angry easily and have a tough time focusing their energy in the right places. And sometimes, they end up taking on more than they can handle.

For Aries, I chose Reyes (and no, not just because "Reyes" kind of sounds like "Aries"). Reyes is a little faded, but it has a calm and soothing effect. When I look at it, I feel like I'm talking to my therapist. I think Reyes would help Aries give energy to the things that matter most.

Taurus (April 20–May 20)

A Taurus is super-committed to whatever he or she chooses to do. People born under this sign don't like sudden changes. Consistency is key. A Taurus wouldn't do well with a black-and-white filter, for example.

I choose Amaro for this sign, because it brightens up the entire photo, creating a sort of yellow tint. The photo remains solid in its quality, though; if anything, it's just enhanced. In the words of my friend and co-worker Zara Barrie (who might low-key might be a lesbian vampire), "I like looked washed-out and ill because I'm a Taurus." Amen to that.

Gemini (May 21–June 20)

Gemini is the star sign of communication: People born under this sign are hyper-curious and always looking to adopt new ideas and move on from old experiences. They are quick on their feet and eager to dive in.

Because they have such a unique ability to adapt and move forward from old ways of life, I think Moon is the perfect filter for them. Moon makes photos black and white, and it perfectly reflects Gemini's outlook on life. Gemini likes saying goodbye to bad experiences and leaving them in the dust for bigger and better things.

Cancer (June 21–July 22)

People born under Cancer are loving and emotional. But these qualities can backfire on them, because they can have a hard time letting go of the past. They're also incredibly cautious and can have a difficult time trusting people.

Two Cancers recently told me their favorite filter is Rise, which makes sense because the two words I would use to describe Rise are "loving" and "emotional." It's got a bright orange glow, and it kind of makes your Instagram photo look like it's getting a hug from the sun.

Leo (July 23–August 22)

Oh, Leo. You guys just can't be tamed. Leos are stuck in their ways and refuse to budge for anyone, but this pompousness becomes a positive when it comes to setting their minds to something. It channels itself into creativity and enthusiasm.

And Hefe is the most enthusiastic of all the filters, IMO. Its border is black but it gets less intense as you move to the center of the picture. To me, the black border represents Leo's dislike of being in a box, and there's nothing you can do to change that.

Virgo (August 23–September 22)

People born under Virgo are practical and analytical. (Think: math professors.) Tapping into emotions isn't exactly their forte. They're also overcritical and fussy, which makes them total perfectionists at heart. So even though they never settle for less than what they deserve, they never really win.

For them, I choose Hudson. Hudson has blue-ish, purple-ish undertones. And, unlike the warmer filters, it represents emotion. Virgo needs to stop to reflect, and Hudson fulfills this need.

Libra (September 23–October 22)

Libra is the best (I'd know, 'cause I am a Libra). People born under this sign are fair and balanced -- two of our most admirable qualities. We look for harmony in the universe. But we're also major people-pleasers. We look to avoid conflict at all costs, which doesn't help us.

As far as filters go, my personal favorite is Sierra, because it isn't dramatic. It isn't dark but genuine. It's subtly sweet, just like ME.

Scorpio (October 23–November 21)

Scorpios tend to get jealous easily. They are also a bit compulsive, so they need to learn to keep themselves in check. Still, when they set their minds to something, they are determined and follow through with power.

Lo-fi is good for Scorpio. It gives the picture a tanned and bronzed effect, and when I think "jealous and compulsive," I think "Jersey Shore." So, tan = Jersey Shore = jealous ... yeah, you get it. Sorry, Scorpios.

Sagittarius (November 22–December 21)

Sagittarius is blindingly positive. People born under Scorpio always see the glass as half-full, no matter what's actually going on in their lives. They're good-humored and freedom-loving people, but their blind optimism can often lead to carelessness.

The Nashville filter is nostalgic. It reminds me of watching an old Western movie or being in a vintage store, and that's what Sagittarius is always trying to do: return to a happier time and place.

Capricorn (December 22–January 19)

People born under Capricorn are hard-working and loyal. They're super-patient and practical, but they're also pessimists at heart (that's a no-no).

For my Caps, I think Slumber would be a good fit. Slumber is mad dark -- like, literally and figuratively -- and Capricorn would relate. Capricorn, when you're ready, I'd say to take a cue from Sagittarius and switch over to Nashville (and optimism).
