6 Ways To Keep The Positive Energy Flowing During Finals Week

by Ashley Baker

In a world that changes moment to moment in regard to fashion trends, famous figures and fancy desires, there are so many outlooks on the world as you open your eyes each new morning.

There are so many choices, so many decisions and so many ways of taking on the challenges that the day brings.

Your mindset is one of those choices.

Whether it be starting your morning with a cup of coffee or complaining to your roommate about how loud the people upstairs were being last night, it can set the tone for the entire day.

I've found during the first semester in college that mindsets are everything.

Walking to class, the moments before settling down to write a paper and studying for tests are all moments in which it is easy to run through all of the other things you'd rather be doing with your day.

I'm here to tell you these activities do not have to be a day-dampener.

Here are a few ideas to keep the positive energy flowing throughout each part of your day as a college student:

1. Pop in some headphones on the way to class.

Music is a great way to put a little pep in your step.

Always keep a pair of earphones or headphones in your backpack for the trek from class to class, or to kill some time between class times.

By listening to your favorite tune or an upbeat track, your day will surely improve, and your attitude for the next destination will be stellar.

2. Grab a snack.

Eating a healthy, protein-filled snack will give you more energy throughout the day, and it will keep your friends from thinking, "Wow, she must be hangry."

Make sure you keep a snack and water on your person.

Whenever your energy levels are low after staying up late finishing homework or hanging with friends, it is a great pick-me-up.

3.  Reward yourself.

College students are known to show up to places where they will get rewarded just for showing up.

This may look like getting free food, free T-shirts (that one is my weakness) or a bonus credit opportunity for a class.

So why not apply this idea to yourself?

Looking at a new top online?

Why not set a goal for yourself?

Whenever a prize is in mind, you'll be more likely to make progress in whatever activity you need to fulfill.

4. Keep a journal.

Reminding yourself of the things you should be thankful for can improve a person's mindset almost instantly.

By remembering the things you're grateful for, even if it is as simple as having a bed to sleep in, your outlook on life can begin to change.

Consider doing this right after you wake up.

That way, you start the day off with the positive mindset you're aiming for.

5. Compliment others.

See that woman wearing the trendiest necklace you've ever seen?

Go tell her.

See that guy wearing some cool sneakers?

Go tell him.

Complimenting others not only makes the person receiving the compliment happy, but it's also a way to make yourself feel good.

Try it, and you'll understand what I'm talking about.

6. Dress to impress (yourself).

This is an idea you might consider to be silly, but trust me.

You'll start the day off with the perfect amount of confidence.

My trick is to pick out my clothes the night before, along with accessories, shoes and the makeup and other products I plan on using.

It's a huge timesaver, and it gives you something to look forward to in the morning.

You're already one step ahead of the game, and when all is said and done, you'll look and feel amazing.

Don't let the school part of school get you down.

It's all in an effort to set you along the path of success.

By using these tricks and tips, you're sure to find joy and success even in the mundane parts of the day.
