Up And At 'Em: 10 Things Every Morning Exerciser Has In Common

“Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy.” Preach, Elle!

It is scientifically proven that physical activity contributes to greater feelings of excitement and enthusiasm. Don’t believe me? Google it, you doubters.

Working out is the best part of my day. It is quality “me” time, where I get to jam out to music and sweat, and I always feel 100 times better afterward. I mean, don’t we all?

We feel stronger, sexier, thinner, healthier, happier — whatever it may be — and we’re damn proud of it.

The toughest part about exercising, though, isn’t running uphill, finishing the last rep or feeling like you’re about to vomit. It’s simply motivating yourself to exercise, particularly if you do so in the wee hours of the morning when the sun hasn’t even risen.

Morning exercisers, I feel ya.

We’ve all experienced the struggle of waking up on the wrong side of the bed and not wanting to do a single thing, especially workout.

There are days when I jump out of bed quicker than I used to on Christmas morning, and there are also days when I think of every possible excuse to not workout. The latter requires a special kind of pep talk — one of the 10 things us morning exercisers have in common:

1. We have a routine morning pep talk.

"You can do this. You just need to get out of bed."

That’s essentially the chat I have with myself every morning the second my alarm goes off.

Getting out of bed and into clothes is a daily struggle, which we are so used to and we genuinely enjoy… once our workout is finished.

2. We don’t mess with our sleep schedules.

We try to give our bodies the rest they need, but sometimes, they won’t give us the rest we want. So, don’t give us sh*t for going to bed early and waking up before dawn on the weekend. We can’t help it.

3. We think of excuses, but never make them.

The amount of time we spend staring at the ceiling, thinking of every possible reason not to workout is never worth skipping it. If we’re up, we’re going.

4. We freaking love breakfast.

They don’t say “breakfast of champions” for nothing, after all.

5. We have unique morning swag.

It may be the music we’re listening to, or it may be that we just woke up. It may be a combination of both, which gives us this “too badass to notice, too tired to care” attitude.

6. We don’t give a f*ck what we look like.

Nope. Not one bit.

7. We love feeling accomplished.

There is no better feeling than getting a good workout in before your day even starts.

8. We prefer pre-workout over coffee.

Pre-workout is seriously half the motivation to get out of bed.

9. We use the gym as an excuse to not go out.

"Sorry, I can’t. I have to go to the gym in the morning."

We really just don’t want to go out. Plus, we have to get up early. Priorities, people.

10. We know how to get sh*t done.

We don’t wake up at 5 am to socialize or joke around. We get in, get it done and we get out. ‘Nuff said.
