Since recreational marijuana use was legalized, there’s no doubt that the residents of Colorado have become more exposed to the culture and paraphernalia surrounding weed. Apparently it’s becoming so natural that pot is creeping its way into some high schools.

I’ve seen people in my math class and they’ll be sitting there with the teacher and they’ll be smoking it and they won’t even know. - Jack Maestas, Student at Lakewood High School in Colorado

It’s not strange to hear about the occasional student who got caught being stoned in class, but with our current technology they can get high right in the classroom. Vaporizer pens have made it significantly easier for kids to stealthily smoke right in front of teachers.

Vape pens are small, silent and odorless and thus quite simple to conceal. However, teachers are becoming more aware of the telltale signs of a student sneaking a toke.

Teachers are aware of what to look for. The nervous habit of biting on your pen has a new meaning to it. - Ron Castagna, Principal of Lakewood High School

From generation to generation, young adults have always pushed the limits to see how much they can get away with. Unfortunately, it’s acts like getting smacked in class that causes speed bumps on the road to national legalization.
