No Days Off: 5 Reasons Millennials Shouldn't Get Comfortable With Time

by Aisling McEntegart

In the business of success, there's no time to waste.

For Millennials aiming for the stars, it is vital to end each day knowing you are one step closer to your goals.

There is no magic formula or hidden secret for achieving success. The key to unlocking your future is plain, simple and within your grasp.

While it may not be the most glamorous answer, constant hard work and daily dedication are the basis of triumph.

Pushing yourself in the direction of accomplishment seven days a week will get you where you want to be.

1. Famous people have all followed this rule.

Think about the people you look up to, and realize every person you respect started out as just an average person with a dream.

Everything they know, they had to learn.

Every single expert was once just a humble beginner.

Your idols have reached their objectives by making their dreams a priority and putting daily effort into cultivating their desires.

Reading the success stories of your heroes will teach you they didn’t gain prosperity and acclaim by spending countless hours on the couch watching Netflix.

They poured their heart and soul into bringing their visions to life.

Those who give themselves the time to steadily ascend are more likely to arrive at their destination, as opposed to those who waste time on meaningless things.

2. Others will eat their words.

Always remember that, at some point, people like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs were considered losers.

They were laughed at by those around them. But they didn’t let the opinions of irrelevant people dull their shine, and neither should you.

They focused on continuously making progress instead. Use each day to build your own reality, and forget about those who hinder your growth.

3. Setbacks lead to progress.

For the moments when you inevitably experience a setback, keep in mind every mistake is a lesson, and nothing is a waste of time if you learn from it.

By experiencing turbulence, you become stronger and wiser. Every bird has to fall before it flies.

If people like Walt Disney had given up at the first hint of a problem, they would never have left their tremendous mark on the world.

Consider this if you ever feel like quitting.

4. You will never get this time back.

Time is currency that must be wisely spent, because there is no return policy if you make ill use of it. Time is an investment to your future.

Invest your time working toward your goals, and you will be repaid with affluence in the future.

Use it to improve your skills and progress your interests. Take advantage of every day to hone your abilities and perfect your skill set.

You don't want to be the person who looks back in 10 years and wishes he or she had spent his or her time more wisely.

You want to remember all your achievements, and recount how each day brought you closer to where you are today.

You never get back wasted time, and regretting what could have been will cause you despair.

There is never a better time to start making progress than today.

This does not mean you can never take a day off. It means you should only take a day off if it benefits you and your journey. Don't just sit in all day because you're lazy or don’t know where to start.

Establish what you want, make a plan of action and chase your dreams relentlessly. Rest days are a necessary aspect of growth, but aimless procrastination must be avoided at all cost.

5. Time flies faster than you expect it to.

It is especially important for college students to strive upward and seek self-improvement.

It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking you have plenty of time ahead to worry about the future.

However, the next thing you know, it’s a month before graduation and you're sitting in the career office, attempting to piece together a résumé without an ounce of experience.

Spending the weekends partying may be fun, but is it really going to benefit you?

Many get frustrated when they don't immediately see results, but practice patience and remember it takes time and effort to make it to the top.

Nobody has ever built an empire in an afternoon. Success must sit on a strongly-built foundation.

Never cut corners, and push through the rough moments with the knowledge it will all pay off one day.

By eliminating no progress days, you firmly plant yourself on the path to success and begin to establish yourself.

It will take time, and there will be bumps along the road. But those who refuse to give up always make it.

The climb may be long and difficult, but the view from the top makes it all worthwhile.
