Ryan Reynold's Friend Tried To Sell Photos Of His Baby Behind His Back

The welcoming of a new baby to the family is supposed to be a time of joy and happiness.

But for Ryan Reynolds, the birth of his daughter, James, prompted the loss of something else: one of his oldest friends.

When Reynolds' wife, Blake Lively, gave birth to baby James in December, the new parents decided they would keep the child out of the spotlight as much as possible; there were no tabloid pictures, no magazine features and no photos on social media.

Nearly 10 months later, the public has yet to fully meet James.

But shortly after his daughter's birth, Reynolds learned one of his best friends — someone he was close with for 25 years — was trying to sell photos of his daughter. Private photos.

The “Deadpool” actor opened up about the betrayal in the latest issue of GQ. He explained,

A guy that I'd known for my whole life, one of my closest friends growing up, he had been shopping pictures of my baby around. I kind of got in front of it, which is good. But it was a slightly dark period… It was like a death. It's just, 'Oh, well, now I'm never going to see you or talk to you again, unfortunately.' That's kind of how it worked out.

Though he admits it took several weeks to mourn the loss of his close friend, he believes cutting him out was for the best.

That aside, being a father seems to be living up to all of Reynolds' expectations, poopy diapers and all.
