One Long-Gone Character May Be Making An Epic Return To 'Game Of Thrones'

HBO

ALL CAPS WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS.

Fan theories are cool, and actor commentary is great, but there may be no clearer indication of what big reveal could come in the next "Game of Thrones" episode than this.

Joseph Mawle, the actor who plays Benjen Stark, has been credited by IMDB for appearing in the Sunday May 29 episode of "GoT," titled "Blood of My Blood."

That gives every "GoT" fan reason to believe that the next episode could see the return of Benjen.

IMDB

As Mawle's IMDB profile shows, Benjen Stark hasn't appeared in the series since season one, when he took Jon Snow to join the Night's Watch.

Benjen, who at the time was First Ranger of the Night's Watch, was last seen heading north of The Wall to investigate word about the return of the White Walkers.

His horse would later gallop back to Castle Black's gates without him, which hinted at his untimely death. In addition, the two men he'd left with were later found dead.

Next episode, though, the sixth of this season, could present the perfect time for Benjen's return.

As the New Republic's Alex Shephard mentions, the Wildlings and members of the Night's Watch are south of the Wall. With the Children of the Forest now presumably extinct and Hodor dead (*sigh*), that leaves no known allies in place to conveniently help a scurrying Bran and Meera.

A returning Benjen Stark is as plausible a source as any for Bran and Meera's rescue at this point.

And if Benjen does indeed return, it'll mean yet another Stark reunion for this season.
