Idris Elba Has Classiest Response To Author Who Called Him 'Too Street'

by Taylor Ortega

Idris Elba, you classy son-of-a-mother-who-taught-you-not-to-let-the-undue-criticisms-of-others-get-in-your-way.

The actor responded via Instagram to discourteous comments made by James Bond author Anthony Horowitz.

In an interview with Daily Mail, Horowitz claimed Elba, who was rumored to be next in line for the title role in the James Bond film franchise, would not be a good fit for the deadly, debonair spy character because Horowitz believed Elba to be “too street.”

After the comments began to make their way around the Internet, sparking criticism and outrage, Horowitz issued an apology.

Elba then posted a snap on Instagram of a Moviefone article headlined “007 Writer Says Idris Elba Is 'Too Street' to Play James Bond, Quickly Apologizes.”

The “Luther” actor captioned the post,

Always Keep Smiling!! It takes no energy and never hurts! Learned that from the Street!!

Oh, Idris, you are as wry as you are great at wearing fancy suits.
