by Adam Pliskin

Big news, "Harry Potter" fans: Eddie Redmayne has officially been cast in the prequel film "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

The movie takes place 70 years before the events of the original "Potter" books, and Redmayne, fresh off his Oscar win, will play the role of Newt Scamander.

The movie will be directed by David Yates, the man who directed the last four "Harry Potter" movies.

The script for the film was written by J.K. Rowling, and it's the first time Rowling has written a screenplay.

There is no set release date for this one as of yet, but filming is slated to begin in the late summer. Consider us excited!
