Disney Conspiracy: Wild Theory Puts 'Tangled', 'Frozen' And 'The Little Mermaid' In The Same Universe

by Lauren Martin

Some of the reasons we still love Disney movies as maturing adults are the conspiracies and subtle mystery in all of them.

As we’ve aged, the movies we loved so dearly as children have aged with us, bringing new insights and intrigue into the “not-so-innocent” films.

According to one detail-oriented (and I’d say Disney-crazed) Tumblr, a theory has emerged that ties “Frozen,” “Tangled” and “The Little Mermaid” together, linking them in a series of weird coincidences and cameos of characters.

According to the theory, in “Frozen,” Elsa and Anna’s parents die in a ship wreck on their way to Rapunzel’s return celebration three years ago, which ends up being the ship that Ariel first comes across in "The Little Mermaid."

Thus, all the movies are just prequels and sequels to each other.

But if you're still confused, we'll explain further...

If you’ve seen the Disney movies and have an eye for animated characters, you should have noticed that Rapunzel and her boyfriend from 'Tangled' were present at the coronation ceremony in 'Frozen.'

Obviously they are family friends, being royalty and all…

It was this cameo that incited many Disney fans to start looking into the connection between the two movies. This led to the realization that there was most definitely a connection between the two films.

But it goes deeper…

The movies all have their own countries of origin and the Tumblr detective figured out that the kingdoms are indeed connected and the ocean the boat sank in connects the two kingdoms.

Keep going….

Many believe that the sunken ship that Ariel first found is the lost remnants of Elsa and Anna’s parents. Which means that Ariel is the sequel, rather than the prequel, to both 'Tangled' and 'Frozen.'

It’s a lot like the "Star Wars" trilogies…
