Hey, were you enjoying the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards this Sunday night? Were you having a nice time laughing along with Stephen Colbert's jokes and CBS's obsession with itself? Well please, allow me to ruin that for you, by bringing your attention to this Donald Trump tweet about the Emmys from 2012.

Of course, these days if there's a big television event happening in America, you can guarantee the President of the United States has already tweeted something critical about it. The man is a former reality TV star and a proven attention hog — he just can't resist! (This is the reality we live in. Thanks, third party voters!) So anyways, naturally Trump had a terrible opinion about the Emmy Awards back in 2012. The former reality show turned President of the United States and leader of the free world once tweeted of the 2012 Emmys,

The Emmys were horrendous...the absolute worst show!

If you're thinking, "Wow, that seems a little unreasonable of our president, don't worry, Donald Trump went on to explain his strong anti-Emmys opinion in a follow-up tweet, where he wrote,

The Emmys are all politics, that's why, despite nominations, The Apprentice never won--even though it should have many times over.

Yep, you read that correctly! The President of the United States once complained about the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences being too political, which apparently was the only reason his prestigious and sophisticated reality show The Apprentice never won an Emmy.

And that's not all! The very next morning — the morning after the 2012 Emmys — Trump slammed the Emmy ratings and blamed in on the fact that, you guessed it, The Apprentice's lack of nomination. Trump wrote,

Emmys telecast is way down & lowest telecast on record among young adults. Emmys have no credibility-Should have nominated Apprentice again!

Of course, as host Stephen Colbert observed at this Sunday night's 2017 Emmys during his opening monologue,

Why didn't you people give Donald Trump an Emmy? If he had won an Emmy, he never would have run for president!

Fair point, Stephen. But as Colbert went on to say,

Unlike the winner of the presidency, Emmys go to the popular vote.

And, as Colbert also brought up, this is not the only time Trump tweeted about the Primetime Emmy Awards. Two years later, in 2014, Trump went after Emmys host Seth Meyers when he tweeted,

That Seth Meyers is hosting the Emmy Awards is a total joke. He is very awkward with almost no talent. Marbles in his mouth!

Seth Meyers finally responded to this tweet Sunday night, at Colbert's prompting, by opening his mouth and revealing that yes, he did in fact actually have marbles in his mouth.

The current President of the United States infamously has a long and bitter resentment towards the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. It's true that Trump's reality show, The Apprentice, was nominated several times for Emmy Awards. In fact, Trump received eight Emmy nominations, but zero wins. And I think we all know how that man hates to lose. We know that all too well.

Last year, the Television Academy even went so far as to publicly respond to Donald Trump's accusation that the Emmys were apparently rigged because his terrible show didn't win any awards. The Academy tweeted, "Rest assured, the #Emmys are not rigged," and attached a graphic explaining the voting process behind the winners and losers of Emmy Awards.

And even in a presidential debate with Hillary Clinton in 2016, Trump still wouldn't let this Emmy thing go — still maintaining he should have won. That's the President of the United States, ladies and gentlemen!
