The Clown In The 'It' Remake Will Give You Serious Nightmares

YouTube

Apologies in advance for the unrecoverable night terrors from which you will suffer after seeing this picture of the new "It" clown.

That's right. Pennywise The Dancing Clown from Stephen King's famous horror story is back. He'll hit the big screens in September of next year with an adaptation by director Andrés Muschietti.

Are you ready for the big reveal? Are you sure? I'm definitely not.

*Shudder*

Pennywise will be played by Bill Skarsgård from Netflix series "Hemlock Grove." But he's got some big boots to fill -- Tim Curry's portrayal of the clown was pretty effing scary. Here's what the original clown looked like in a super creepy scene.

Skarsgård told Entertainment Weekly,

It's important that we do something fresh and original for this one. It's purposely not going toward that weird, greasy look.

He continued,

One of my best friends is completely traumatized by the original film version of 'It.' He has a clown phobia, and he was maybe five or six when he saw it, which is way too young, and he had an older sibling who made him watch it. Now he's scarred for life.

Cool. Thanks for the coulrophobia, guys.
