Katy Perry made a statement at the 2017 Met Gala on May 1 that has everybody talking.

The "Chained To The Rhythm" singer showed up to the Metropolitan Museum of Art wearing a bright red floor-length gown with a headpiece covering her entire face.

She was one of the first celebrities to arrive on the carpet, and all eyes were on her the entire evening.

In the photos below, you can take a closer look at the detail on Katy Perry's headpiece.

According to Twitter, many people believe the writing on the veil spells out "witness." Some even think she spelled out the title of her new album, but Perry has yet to confirm whether or not that's actually true.

Katy Perry has certainly rocked some extravagant looks in the past, but nothing like this before.

You can check out some of her former Met Gala looks below if you'd like to go down memory lane. Yeah, Katy has rocked an assortment of... interesting outfits.

Now that you see what Katy Perry has worn for the last four years, I think it's pretty obvious her 2017 look was the craziest so far.

This year, Katy actually hosted the Met Gala, so it is pretty appropriate for her to go all out. Her bejeweled gown was designed by John Galliano, along with nails and rings by Lorraine Schwartz.

The internet seems divided on how to feel on Katy's outfit. Some people admired the star for making a bold fashion choice. Others thought she looked silly and "ridiculous."

One thing everyone can agree on is that Katy definitely rocked the theme, that's for sure. The 2017 Met Gala was based on Comme des Garcons, the fashion label founded by Tokyo designer Rei Kawakubo.

If you look at everyone else's outfits, it becomes pretty clear Katy Perry was the only person to even slightly make an effort.. lol, did no one else get the memo?
